Award of US$540M Mining Contract

AMS is pleased to announce that it has received a Letter of Intent from a Resolute Mining Limited to award a mining contract for Resolute’s flagship Syama Gold Mining Operation in Mali, West Africa to African Mining Services Mali SARL (AMS).

Resolute is a gold producer with three operating gold mines in Australia and Africa. It is currently undertaking a major expansion of its Syama Gold Project.  The Syama Gold Project is located in the south of Mali, West Africa approximately 30kms from the Côte d'Ivoire border and 300kms southeast of the capital Bamako. 
 
The contract, valued at US$540 million, will have a duration of five years, commencing on 1 September 2012.
 
AMS will perform all contract mining services at the project.  AMS has reached an agreement with the incumbent contractor to purchase the equipment currently being used  at the operation. Further equipment has been obtained by AMS in accordance with project expansion requirements. This includes an O&K RH170 with a maximum operating weight of 395 tonnes and 10 Catepillar 785 Dump Trucks capable of moving 180 tonnes of earth each.
 
Ausdrill Managing Director, Ron Sayers, said “This is the single largest contract ever awarded to the Ausdrill group and clearly recognises our ability to tackle large scale mining service projects in West Africa.
